Our Community

Got any community news or events to share?

If so, we would like to help you promote them. If you are involved in any project, group or event in our local community we would love to help you spread the word. Please email the details to community@baag.com.au. You can attach pictures as well if you like. If you submit something and it doesn’t get listed, please don’t hassle us. We can’t list everything we receive, and preference is given to things going on in our local area… in particular those aimed at the Community, Sustainability and Gardening.

Community event – Vegie swap meet

Too many tomatoes? Loads of lemons? Bundles of beans? Don’t let them go to waste. Bring along your excess home grown produce, anything from vegetables and fruit to worm juice, and swap it for someone else’s excess produce. The next Vegie Swap will be held on March 20th between 9.30am and 10.30am. Everyone’s welcome, just turn up on the day. BAAG is only providing the space for this community event and will not be gaining financially in any way from it.

Get involved in a local environmental group

Ok, so we are not asking you to stand in front of a harpoon from a Japanese whaling ship, tie yourself to a tree or even take a hit from Rodney Rae. There are loads of great environmentally minded community groups out there, from bird watching to organic vegie gardening, getting involved in your local community is a great way to meet your neighbours, learn a couple of things and make a difference at the same time. Below we have listed a few groups from the City of Manningham and the City of Banyule, you don’t necessarily need to live in their councils to join the groups but if you would like to find something a bit closer to your place most councils have a list of the groups that operate in their region.
