New Class Pruning for Productive Fruit Trees
Sunday July 5th
10am to 12noon - Cost $35
Note that the venue for this is at the presenter's house in Pascoe Vale!
If you have been growing fruit in your garden or have inherited a garden with fruit trees, you may still need good information on how to look after them well so that they produce as much as they can. Karen Sutherland of Edible Eden Design will be giving practical demonstrations on pruning times and techniques on her own trees. Notes will be given on concerns such as when to feed them and with what; safer pest and disease control; and greywater issues with fruit trees. Presented by Karen Sutherland

School Holiday Class For Kids Kids and Chooks

Who looks after the chooks at your place? If it’s your kids, this is the class for them. Join Pete Jones, teacher by day and experienced chook breeder by weekend, as he looks at the colourful aspects of keeping chooks. Practical tips and loads of fun activities. Presented by Pete Jones

School Holiday Class For Kids Garden Dishes from Clay
Thursday 9th July
10am to 11.30am - Cost $30
Places limited to 10 children per class. Use clay building techniques to make and imaginatively decorate a small garden bowl, suitable to use as a birdfeeder, birdbath or an indoor fruit bowl. Places limited to 10 per class, parents welcome to book in separately with their child. Cost includes firing of the bowl. Presented by Meredith Plain

School Holiday Class For Kids Crazy Critters Clay Sculpture
Thursday 9th July
1.00pm to 2.00pm - Cost $15 (includes some clay. Firing for one piece included in cost)
Places limited to 10 children per class. Learn ceramic sculpture. Come and make a dragon or other creature using hand-building and modelling techniques with clay. Use your imagination. Parents are welcome to book in and also make their own critter. Presented by Meredith Plain

"Go vertical" is the cry when garden space is limited. Gardening in two dimensions is what espalier is about and this class will cover the different types and how to get them started and then continue to train them into the desired shape. Particular emphasis will be on suitable fruit trees. Presented by Diana Cotter

Have you always grown your vegies from punnets of seedlings? Find out how cheap it can be and the amazing variety available when you raise your seedlings from seed. In the past, all home gardeners would save seed from year to year and these varieties are now classed as Heirloom and aren't always available as seedlings in nurseries and definitely not in supermarkets.
