Garden Mentoring Package

Do you feel lost when you walk out the backdoor and look at your garden not knowing where to start?

We are here to help!

This intensive garden package will guide you through the process of creating and maintaining a sustainable garden and will turn you into a green thumb no matter what your level of experience.

Our mentors come from a range of backgrounds with expertise in a variety of areas. It is best to consider what type of garden that you would like so that we can get the right mentor for you. Some areas of expertise include:

  • Drought tolerant and Low Maintenance Gardens

  • Rainwater and Grey Water Systems

  • Fruit, Vegetable and Herb Gardens

  • Children Friendly Gardens

  • Wildlife Gardens

  • Native and Indigenous Gardens

  • Organic and Permaculture Gardens

  • Courtyard Gardens

  • Lawn Alternatives

  • Ponds and Water Gardens

  • And many different garden styles from traditional to modern.

What we do

The initial visit discusses the importance of preparation. We will show you how to lay-out and prepare a garden bed for planting. By the end of the visit you will be left with a rough plan of the style of garden that you would like and some of the plants species that would suit the area.

The second on-site visit will show you how to position and plant the plants you have picked. This needs to be arranged for the same or following day that you purchase the plants, so they do not dry out.

The third on-site visit by your mentor assists with any of the maintenance questions that you may have for the garden, issues including weeding, mulching, fertilising and pruning are covered to ensure the long-term success of the garden. This visit can occur up to 12 months after the planting.

If you still need a little more help, for 12 months you are able to e-mail your mentor up to 10 times for answers to any short questions that may arise.

To further fine tune your gardening skills you will also be able to attend three garden classes held at Bulleen Art and Garden. These classes cover a wide range of topics and you can pick any three that you like.

This package includes

  • Initial 2 hour visit

  • Second 1.5 hour positioning and planting visit

  • Third 1 hour maintenance and advice visit

  • 10 e-mails over the 12 month period

  • 10% Discount vouchers for 5 garden classes over a 12 month period

  • Automatic subscription to email list

Travel Surcharges May Apply

Important note: We are based in Bulleen. We do cover quite a large area without surcharges, however if you live outside this area there may be a surcharge added to the listed fee to cover the consultant's travel costs. You will be informed if this charge applies to you (and how much) when we contact you to organise the consultancy, so you won't get any nasty surprises on the day.

Cost:

$390 (Our team of consultants come from all over Melbourne. Travel surcharges may apply depending on where you live. We will discuss this with you when we talk to you.)

Discount Vouchers

At the end of your first onsite meeting you will receive 3 BAAG discount vouchers that entitle you to 15% off plant purchases and 7.5% off all other purchases (excludes paving, retaining walls, instant turf and water tanks as they are already discounted).

Preparation

The better prepared you are, the more you will get out of your onsite meeting. A little bit of research goes a long way, look through gardening magazines for the style of gardens that you like, consider how much time you would like to spend in the garden or other factors that may influence the style of garden that will suit you.
