Saxifraga stolonifera (syn. S sarmentosa)

How to keep them thriving indoors in Melbourne!

Please Note: The information below is specific to this particular plant. For more detailed notes on the general growing conditions required for all indoor plants, check out our ‘Growing Indoor Plants Successfully’ factsheet.

A delightful little plant which can look lovely in a round squat pot to complement its round leaves, or in a hanging pot where it can be encouraged to cascade.

Watering
Keep moist over the warmer months, however reduce watering significantly in the cooler months, allow to semi dry out in between watering.

Light
Very bright indirect light.

Temperature and Humidity
No special requirements – doesn’t need humidity and regular room temperatures suit it.

Fertilising
Do not over fertilise. Apply slow release fertiliser in spring at half the recommended rate.

Maintenance
Your pot plant should be flushed annually. This process flushes away the salts that build up in the potting mix. To flush the pot, water several times in succession, soaking the pot each time until water runs out of the bottom.

Problems
Generally pest free as long as not overwatered
