Bangalow Palm Archontophoenix cunninghamiana (Common)
Outdoors, semi shade to full sun. To 15m height, 4m canopy.
Medium heat UV, frost and cold tolerance, prefers protection from strong winds.
Regular watering, keep soil moist and well mulched.
Also A alexandrae, maxima, purpurea (Uncommon): all three have silver leaf undersides and attractive trunks – protect from frost.

Blue Hesper Palm Brahea armata (Rare)
Outdoors, full sun. To 4m height, 4m canopy.
Extreme heat, UV, drought and frost tolerance.
Water in extended dry periods. Needs good drainage if planted in clay soil.
Also B edulis, nitida (Rare): instead of silver, these have green and blue-green fan leaves and are more compact.

Jelly Palm Butia odora (Common)
Outdoors, full sun. To 4m height, 5m canopy.
High heat, UV, cold, frost and drought tolerance.
Water in extended dry periods. Prefers clay soils.
Also B catarinensis (dwarf), eriospatha, yatay (giant and large species with extreme frost tolerance) (Rare).

Two alternative forms of this well known hardy palm. The var cerifera is from Morocco; var ‘Vulcano’ is a beautiful dwarf form.

One of a dozen suitable Chamaedorea species, of every leaf shape, configuration and size.
Medium light conditions. Moderate watering.

Flamethrower Palm Chambeyronia macrocarpa (Uncommon)

Chilean Wine Palm Jubaea chilensis (Uncommon)

Slow, long lived stately palm, preferred to Phoenix canariensis as no spines and disease resistant.

Atherton Palm Laccospadix australasica (Uncommon)
