How to keep them thriving indoors in Melbourne!
Please Note: The information below is specific to this particular plant. For more detailed notes on the general growing conditions required for all indoor plants, check out our ‘Growing Indoor Plants Successfully’ factsheet.
I have never been sure if the amazing popularity of this plant is due to its delicate beauty draping over a basket and dripping down in a lovely cascade, or due to its toughness and ability to survive most conditions. Whichever it is, this is a very rewarding plant to add to your indoor collection, and a very undemanding one.
Allow to dry out in between waterings over the warmer months, and keep almost dry over winter.
Moderate to bright indirect light. Rotate pot if you want even growth.
Temperature and Humidity
Can cope with very warm temperatures but prefers temps over 10C. Doesn’t need humidity, good option for airconditioned and heated areas.
Slow release fertiliser in spring.
None really, trim if gets too long. Looks best when very full in the pot, so don’t repot until absolutely necessary, and use a cacti and succulent type of potting mix.
Not prone to insect attack. Just don’t overwater.
