Dypsis baronii

How to keep them thriving indoors in Melbourne!

Please Note: The information below is specific to this particular variety. For more detailed notes on the general growing conditions required for all Indoor Plants, check out our ‘Growing Indoor Plants Successfully’ factsheet.

Dramatic slender prominently ringed multiple trunks in pale lime green to yellow tones, topped with long full fronds. Young trunks can initially appear red, before they transition to the lime green of the mature trunks.

Does well indoors and this has the added advantage of protecting the somewhat tender fronds from winds.

Keep evenly moist, do not allow to dry out in between watering. Adding an attractive mulch on top of the pot is a good idea.

Bright indirect light, or direct morning sun. Avoid direct light in summer.

Temperature and Humidity
Will cope with pretty much any indoor temperature.

Grows at a reasonable rate – fertilise with slow release indoor fertiliser and give a monthly liquid feed during the growth period.

Trim away dead fronds as necessary. Low maintenance. Give an annual flush out to remove any accumulated salts.

Very tolerant palm, but keep away from windy positions.
